Mr. Marcus is president and chief executive officer of The Marcus Group, Inc. and a lifelong Bergen County resident. Mr. Marcus' career in public affairs spans over four decades, beginning in 1967 when he served as a reporter with the Hudson Dispatch assigned to cover New Jersey politics and government. In early 1968, he joined the Bergen County Republican Committee as its executive director and later served as press secretary the chairman of the New Jersey Republican State Committee. As a high school student in 1964, Mr. Marcus was the winner of the “World’s Fair Journalism Award.” In 1969 (at the age of 21) Mr. Marcus was elected Clerk of the New Jersey General Assembly. He is believed to be the youngest person to ever hold a constitutional office in the nation's history. Mr. Marcus later served as Secretary to the Assembly's Majority Party (Republican) prior to establishing his own public affairs counseling firm in 1970. Today, The Marcus Group is one of the region's most honored communications firms specializing in advertising, public relations and crisis management. Mr. Marcus serves on the Board of Directors of Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York. He has served as an adjunct professor of political science at Rutgers University's Graduate School in Newark and as a trustee of The Hun School of Princeton, the Garden State Ballet, the National Leukemia Association, and was on the founding board of Gilda’s Club Northern New Jersey. Mr. Marcus has frequently appeared as an analyst and commentator on network affiliate television and radio stations.
