Bruce Harper
the bergen.com bio
It's been more than 25 years since Harper retired from the New York Jets, but he's never dropped the ball. All this time later, Harper still maintains ties to the Jets, still holds a couple of team records, and still gets shown the love by ever-appreciative Gang Green fans. Likewise, Harper is a Bergen lifer. He was born in Englewood, lived for a time in Fort Lee, bought a house in Englewood, moved to Norwood, and currently resides in Closter with his wife, Nancy. Even his current job -- and passion -- is Bergen-centric: he's the co-founding director of Heroes & Cool Kids, a not-for-profit organization devoted to local students. "My daughters, Carly and Kaylin, are away at college, but this is still home," the easygoing Harper says during a conversation at a Starbucks in Old Tappan. "I've always been in and around Bergen, and I still love it."
