Mehmet Oz, also known as Dr. Oz, is a cardiothoracic surgeon, author, talk show host, and commentator for The Dr. Oz Show, a daily television program focusing on health.
Mehmet Oz first appeared on the The Oprah Winfrey Show in 2004, and later on Larry King Live and other TV programs. In 2009, Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and Sony Pictures launched The Dr. Oz Show. In 1982 he received his undergraduate degree from Harvard University. In 1986 he obtained a joint MD and MBA degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and The Wharton School. Mehmet Oz is a professor at the department of Surgery at Columbia University and directs the Cardiovascular Institute and Complementary Medicine Program at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Oz appeared as a health expert on The Oprah Winfrey Show for five seasons where he addressed issues like diabetes and obesity. His popularity rose swiftly with appearances on Good Morning America, the Today show, Larry King Live and The View. Along with hosting The Dr. Oz Show, Oz hosts a talk show on Sirius XM Radio.
Mehmet Oz authored six best sellers including YOU: The Owner’s Manual, YOU: The Smart Patient, YOU: On a Diet, YOU: Staying Young, YOU: Being Beautiful as well as the award winning Healing from the Heart.
Mehmet Oz lives in Cliffside Park with his wife, Lisa. Daughter Daphne serves as co-host of ABC’s, The Chew.
