Bogota
the bergen.com bio
The teeny .8-square-mile borough of Bogota was formed on Nov. 14, 1894, from portions of Ridgefield Township. Within the next year, sections of Bogota were taken to form Teaneck. The borough was named in honor of the Bogert family, who were the first family to have resided in Bogota. An "o" was added to the family's name in order to ease the pronunciation.
