To this day, the demographics of Lodi are still of heavy Italian influence. Homes built in the Italian style of stucco, semi-brick and columnar facades still abound. In fact, the name Lodi itself traces its origin back to a bridge of the same name in northern Italy, where Napoleon won a battle against the Austrians in 1796. Robert Rennie dubbed the town Lodi in 1825.
