The Heroes & Cool Kids foundation honored former NY Jets great Joe Klecko and Anthony Minite from Bentley Prince Street this past Feb. 24 at Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack.
The Heroes and Cool Kids is a not for profit organization that uses current and former professional athletes to train high school students to mentor fifth and sixth graders. Topics addressed include positive lifestyle choices, bully prevention, sportsmanship, civility, and drug, alcohol and tobacco use prevention. The program began operation in the 1998 school year in three school districts and has expanded to include over 50 school districts in the 2011 school year.
