Cory Booker was named to TIME magazine's prestigious Top 100 Influential People of 2011 this past April with a personal write-up from Oprah Winfrey. TIME magazine describes their list as "Meet the most influential people in the world. They are artists and activists, reformers and researchers, heads of state and captains of industry. Their ideas spark dialogue and dissent and sometimes even revolution."
In Winfrey's write-up she describes Booker's character, "Cory Booker is a genius. I could sense it the first day I met him. His enormous intelligence is surpassed only by his heart. He is compassionate, committed, charismatic and generous of spirit. He defines servant leader."
Cory Booker grew up in Harrington Park and is an alumnus of Northern Valley Regional High School in Old Tappan, where he was a 1986 USA Today All-American football player. Booker is currently serving as Mayor of Newark.
