This 3.9-square-mile town rests along the Passaic River and the Meadowlands. Development of new residential units continues as East Rutherford's population expands, but it still remains an area for commercial businesses and the home of the ultimate entertainment complex in New Jersey.

The town is home to the Izod Center, located in the MetLife Sports Complex. A popular venue for concerts and other entertainment spectaculars, the center was once home to the NHL's New Jersey Devils. The center has a lush sports folklore, including two Stanley Cup championships.

The complex also includes the Meadowlands Racetrack, Meadowlands Rail Station, the Timex Performance Center and the American Dream Meadowlands shopping and entertainment complex, currently under construction.

Sweet Avenue Bake Shop, a gourmet vegan cupcakery located at 153 Park Ave., offers a delectable variety of cupcakes in fresh flavors.

MetLife Stadium will host Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014. The stadium, which opened as New Meadowlands Stadium in 2010 but was renamed in 2011, is home to the New York Giants and the New York Jets.

State Fair Meadowlands, New Jersey's largest annual family-friendly event, takes place at the end of June through early July. The fair features entertainment, more than 150 rides and attractions, special deals and more than 50 food vendors to delight fairgoers of all ages.
