Celebrity Signing: Ridgewood salon owner Tabatha Coffey to sign book in Northvale
By Virginia Rohan of The Record

7 p.m. MARCH 15, NORTHVALE

MANE ATTRACTION

If you want to meet Bravo's straight-talking authority on the beauty business – and so much more – celebrity stylist Tabatha Coffey will be making an appearance in Northvale.

TELL ME MORE: Coffey, who owns Industrie Hair Gurus salon in Ridgewood, will be at Northvale's Books & Greetings to sign "It's Not Really About the Hair: The Honest Truth about Life, Love and the Business of Beauty," which was originally published in January 2011 and recently came out in paperback. In the book, described as "part memoir, part teaching manual and part coaching guide on achieving self-acceptance and love," the Australia native shares experiences from her life, including how she "grew up in strip clubs" that her parents ran, how she got to be so tough, and how she came out to her mother. "It's Not Really About the Hair" is in fact, dedicated to her mom, who died in November 2010. Coffey, whom American audiences first met on the Bravo reality series, "Shear Genius," landed her own Bravo series, "Tabatha's Salon Takeover," in 2008.

QUOTE: "I can honestly say that losing my mother is the hardest thing that has ever happened to me. I've had some relatively hard things in my life, as we all have." — Tabatha Coffey, to The Record, January 2011

DETAILS: 7 p.m. March 15, Books & Greetings, 271 Livingston St., Northvale. 201-784-2665 or booksandgreetings.com.
