A Lincoln Park resident is hoping the community's support will help get her first children's book published.

Louisa Luisi, a playwright and teacher of English, creative writing and acting at Ridgewood High School, has authored a 24-page children's picture book entitled "Your Best Coaches." Through fundraising efforts on Kickstarter.com, Luisi needs to raise $12,000 by Thursday, Aug. 16 to meet her goal. As of Friday, she was over halfway there, with nearly $7,300 pledged by 142 backers.

"Your Best Coaches" is about a young boy on a baseball team who discovers that his best coaches in life are his mother and father.

The full-color, hardcover book features illustrations by Kika Esteves and shares the message that "through high and low points in life, your parents will always be there to root for you."
