Patricia and Mike began dating in 2004 and spent the first three years of their relationship long distance. He was in college at the University of Delaware and she was living in Pequannock, N.J. A little more than a year into their relationship, Patricia and Mike received some life-changing news. "I was pregnant!" Patricia says. "We couldn't be happier when our baby girl, Maia, was born in February 2006. We both worked hard to be able to move into our own place and have our own little family." Four years after the birth of their daughter, Mike proposed. "He went into our room and asked me to follow him," Patricia says. "I sat on the bed next to him, and he asked me, 'Are you sure you want to be with me forever?' I knew what he was getting at, so I yelled out, 'Yes!' He opened up a box with my beautiful engagement ring inside, and our daughter walked in. The three of us shared an amazing moment."
