Shelley and Chris – a couple of huge Yankees fans – met at a baseball game in 2006 when they lived in northern Virginia. Not only did they happen to attend the same Yankees-Nationals game at Nationals Park, but Chris sat in front of Shelley. When Derek Jeter hit a home run and fans started celebrating, the two shared a high-five and started talking. He proposed two and a half years later. "Chris and I came home from dinner," Shelley says, "and I was giving him a hard time about having a fear of commitment. As is his way, he decided to call my bluff. I was brushing my teeth, and he hugged me around the waist and asked, 'Will you?'" She looked down and saw the ring in his hands. "My legs gave way," she says, "and he had to catch me. I whipped around to kiss him but smacked him in the face with my toothbrush! I ran to the bathroom, threw the brush in the sink and came back. But I still couldn't talk because I forgot to spit! I had to run back and do that again before I could officially say yes."
