John and Joan Hughes of Fair Lawn announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Frances Hughes, to Martin Phillip Simmons, son of Martin and Jacquelin Simmons of Clifton.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Fair Lawn High School and received her Bachelor’s of History/Political Science and Secondary Education from Monmouth University. She is currently working as a social studies teacher at Fair Lawn High School.

Her fiancé is a graduate of Clifton High School and received his Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts in History from William Paterson University. He is currently working at Sunrise Kitchens in Parsippany and plans to continue his education.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 9 in Fair Lawn.
