Ryan and Eric have known each other since kindergarten. They remained close friends throughout childhood but didn't begin dating until college. On the night before Thanksgiving in 2009, they passed their old elementary school. Ryan noticed the walkway to their kindergarten classroom was lit with candles and lined with rose petals – that's when Eric parked the car. He walked Ryan up to the door, where he had a teddy bear waiting. As she picked up the teddy bear, he got down on one knee. Eric had pre-recorded "Will you marry me" into the bear, and Ryan's sister and her best friend were hiding in the bushes to take pictures. Afterward, Eric brought Ryan to a restaurant, where he had both of their immediate families waiting. "It was just perfect," she says.
