Polina and Tommy met online through a friend. They chatted incessantly for a week or two before they decided to meet in person. Tommy fell in love at first sight, and Polina followed suit soon after. "He taught me that chivalry and romance in our generation is not dead," Polina says. "He made me lunch, bought me flowers and wanted to see me every chance he got." The couple dated about a year and a half before moving in together in a small two-bedroom apartment in Jersey City. After two years of living together and enjoying every minute of it, Tommy proposed. "That night," Polina says, "I popped some taquitos into the oven, washed off my makeup, changed into PJs and plopped onto the couch. It was then that he went down on both knees (he was nervous) and proposed. It was kind of refreshing that there were no gimmicks. It was just me and him, the way we were every day." The taquitos went cold as Polina and Tommy called all their family and friends to share the good news. They married eight months later. "Seeing his face as I walked down the aisle," Polina says, "is something I will never forget."
