Tom Cruise received an Entertainment Icon Award from the Friars Club on Tuesday night. His daughter, Suri and son, Connor were present during the toast. Alec Baldwin, emcee for the event, along with other friends from the industry including Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kevin Pollak were there to celebrate the event with him.
Tom is the fourth person to receive the award, joining other icons Douglas Fairbanks, Cary Grant, and Frank Sinatra.
To culminate the event and to celebrate Tom Cruise's 50th birthday, an amazing cake was presented to him made by Palermo's Bakery of Ridgefield Park. Highlighting his talent in his movies, the elements of the cake reminds you of the popular scenes in his films.
One tier shows off his moves in the film, Risky Business, as he dances in his underwear. The next tier up is the classic shot from the Burj Khalifa as he scales the slippery windows of the tallest building in the world. Above that stands the American Flag with a replica of the plane he flew in Top Gun where he played the role of Maverick. To top off the cake, they created a bust of Tom Cruise. The rest of the cake features a landscape of Hollywood and on it, they sculpted a cake in the shape of a Buick Roadmaster with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman, quite reminiscent of the scenes in Rain Man. Of course, the Friars Club Logo and Tom's Walk of Fame Star are also on the cake.
