Dining Guide: Guys' Night Out
By Ryan Greene - (201) Magazine

June brings us Father's Day, the official start of summer, and as good an excuse as any for guys to hang out, knock a few back and catch a ball game. Here are a few good places to do just that.

Axia Taverna
Greek | 18 Piermont Road, Tenafly | (201) 569-5999 |
Axia is the Greek word for worthy, and (201) readers routinely rate this Tenafly bar as the county's worthiest hangout spot for dads. With ingredients like ouzo, phyllo dough and bechamel, it's got the Greek food covered, and the knowledgeable wait staff is ready and able to guide guys through the extensive wine list.

The Village Grille
American Bistro
| 71 Crescent Ave., Waldwick | (201) 670-8200 |
This Waldwick watering hole is known as much for its kick-up-your-feet-and-hang-out atmosphere as for its excellent pub grub and desserts. It helps that the place boasts serious beer, wine, martini, cocktail and after-dinner-drinks lists.

Davey's Irish Pub & Restaurant
Sports Bar
| Kinderkamack Road and Grand Avenue, Montvale | (201) 391-9356 |
This joint serves up great food, a lively bar scene and plenty of TVs to accommodate every game under the sun. 'Nuff said.

The Office Beer Bar & Grill
Sports Bar
| 32 Chestnut St., Ridgewood | (201) 652-1070 |
With good burgers and a large selection of ales, The Office is a great place for guys to escape the, uh, office. Ahem. Anyway, the apps are excellent, especially the awesome, awesome wings.

Park & Orchard
American Bistro
| 240 Hackensack St., East Rutherford | (201) 939-9292 |
Sure, yes, the food – from fish to duck stir-fry to gumbo – is fantastic. But where Park & Orchard really excels, particularly for a bunch of dads with discerning taste, is the wine. Grab your oenophile friends and the number for a good taxi, because the hundreds-strong wine list spans 93 pages.
