First, the unusual name, Bat Barry's. You won't find Barry inside, nor is there a baseball reference.

It's a tribute to Bartholomew Barry, the grandfather of Eileen Owens, who opened downtown Westwood's newest gathering spot in September along with her husband, John.

The striking dark wood that frames the entrance is a hint of things to come. The restaurant and bar are filled with charming touches – exposed brick, crystal chandeliers, a stunning textured ceiling. There are just 60 well-spaced seats in the dining room and 15 next to the bar, giving Bat Barry's an air of intimacy like you might find in a wine bar or a coffeehouse.
