SNY, the official television home of the New York Mets, awarded the Carlstadt Little League an SNY Play Ball grant presented by New York Community Bank yesterday. The $5,000 grant being provided is part of the network’s charitable initiative that supports youth baseball and softball organizations in underserved communities in the Tri-State Area. Funding from SNY Play Ball will go towards Carlstadt Little League’s rebuilding efforts – including field repair and new uniforms. The Carlstadt Little League won the grant through a “fan vote” that took place on SNY’s facebook page after submitting an essay on the league and its needs.
The league will also be showcased in a segment during an episode of the network's children's show “Kids Clubhouse” on Sept. 1. In addition, players and coaches from Carlstadt Little League were invited to a Mets game at Citi Field and will be honored on-air during the television broadcast of the game on Aug. 25.
