The laundry room of this Woodcliff Lake home needed a little pick-me-up, so the homeowners called in the team from Closets by Design to renovate the space to make it fun as well as functional.
The laundry room is off the mudroom area, which leads to the garage. Closets by Design wanted to make the space functional and beautiful because the laundry area is seen from the kitchen. So the designers opted to combine both areas, creating a smooth transition from one space to another. The room includes custom-designed and -installed wood grain melamine cabinets with raised-panel thermal foil door and drawer fronts. The countertop is a Wilsonart with a bull-nose edge in Summer Flame melamine. The upper cabinets are designed to hide detergent. Each hutch area provides extra storage and cubbies for children to hang coats and hats, as well as drawers for gloves and other accessories.
Decorative clothes pins, wooden signs and other accessories add a touch of whimsy to the space. The Whirlpool duet washer/dryer adds just the pop of color the space needs, and the room is completed with a small countertop TV set to keep up with the soaps while working with the soap.
