Music icon Kenny Rogers joined forces with bergenPAC and Englewood Fire Department for a Toy Drive Collection in the wake of Hurricane Sandy thiis past Thursday. The gifts were distributed the following day to families in need by the local non-profit "Share the Spirit" at The American Legion Hall in Englewood.

Toys were collected and distributed during this annual two-day event, where Rogers matched monetary donations of up to $10,000 in addition to other toy donations recieved. Fisher-Price and Mattel also sponsored the event.

The remainder of toys will be delivered by volunteers at the Englewood Fire Department.

"The Englewood Fire Department is very excited to be partnering with Mr. Kenny Rogers and the bergenPAC this holiday season for our annual toy drive,” Ray Rodriguez, Lieutenant at Englewood Fire Department said.  "On behalf of the hundreds of families we will be helping this year, I would like to send a heartfelt thank you.  The best part of our annual toy drive is seeing the smiles on the kids’ faces when we give them their bag full of toys."

Additionally, Elisabeth Morrow Student Maxie Anthon of Englewood initiated the "Helping Hands Drive" benefiting the Center for Food Action and Dr. John Grieco Elementary School in Englewood.  She and fellow classmates donated bags full of toys, sneakers, socks, hats, gloves, books and $3,700 to CFA.
