This summer, hit the links with your kids for a round of mini golf. A game that can be enjoyed by children of all ages and skill levels, miniature golf provides endless opportunities to soak up the sun, squeeze in some exercise, and putt away the afternoon.

Paramus Golf Course

Celebrate the best of New Jersey at the Paramus Miniature Golf Course, located on the grounds of the Paramus Municipal Golf Course. The course boasts a New Jersey theme, so families can go head-to-head through 18 holes of golf while traveling on the Garden State Parkway (and exiting at Paramus), crossing the George Washington Bridge, visiting the boardwalk and making other stops throughout the Garden State.

Kids will also have an opportunity to take photos with statues of their favorite Jersey-bred stars, from Bruce Springsteen to Frank Sinatra to The Blues Brothers.

The Paramus Golf Course allows families to experience the Jersey Shore without leaving Bergen County, with a colorful mural, fortune teller, sand pit and other Shore-themed features. Satisfy your appetite with a quick lunch or stop in for a bite at the course's on-site restaurant.

"It's a challenging course, and the themes appeal to every age group," says Ginny Laamenen, a ranger at the course.

Located at 314 Paramus Road, the Paramus Miniature Golf Course is $8, $6 for children and seniors. The course is open seasonally from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. To learn more, visit paramusborough.org or call (201) 447-6079.

Closter Golf

Gather the kids and head to Closter Golf Center, which features a vibrant, colorful 18-hole course set on rolling hills and enhanced by streams, animals and waterfalls.

"It's a flat, easy course that's great for families with young children," assistant manager Dorothy Cho says. The course has been a staple in Bergen County family entertainment for 25 years.

The center also hosts a mini golf course across the New York border in Tappan.

The mini golf courses are at 153 Homans Ave., Closter, and 116 Route 303, Tappan. The courses are open daily year-round from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is $6, $5 for children under 12.
