The traditional Easter bonnet is something you might find in vintage shops these days, or buried in the back of a closet. Songwriter Irving Berlin popularized the bonnet in song in the 1930s after observing an Easter parade in New York City. The bonnet was usually wide-brimmed and decorated with bright flowers, signaling the spring to come, and worn to church services. You may or may not be following that tradition, but you can certainly don a festive springtime hat.
