Maria Margiotta describes her personal style as professional and polished. She is attracted to elegant, classic and timeless pieces that aren't trendy and can last the test of time.

"I can wear a suit from five seasons ago, but it will still work today because I pick classic pieces," she says.

For more than seven years, Margiotta has been the director of marketing and communications for Englewood Hospital and Medical Center.

"The nature of my business is that I work with the media, vendors, staff and physicians, and I like to maintain a professional business look," she says. "I don't wear a lot of patterns or textures; instead, I prefer straightforward pieces that take me from meetings to walking through patient care areas to meeting with the media."

Margiotta prefers monochromatic looks and sticks to neutral colors such as navy, brown and beige.

"Working at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center is an honor and a privilege," she says. "My role is to share with the public and the communities we serve information about the medical center's extraordinary care and services, news about our national recognitions for excellence in patient care and safety, how we're advancing medicine with innovative technologies and techniques, and that our experts are dedicated to the best care possible for our patients and their families."

It is clear Margiotta is passionate about her role at the hospital.

"We provide world-class medicine, outstanding services, nationally recognized programs, such as our cardiac surgery program and internationally renowned bloodless medicine and surgery program," she says.

"The breast care center has been designated by Congress as a national model for breast cancer diagnosis and management," she says. "We detect more early-stage breast cancer than most other New Jersey hospitals.

"Our Bloodless Medicine and Surgery program is an international research, education and referral center and a world-renowned leader in patient blood management, visited regularly by experts from prominent institutions such as the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic to study our bloodless techniques," Margiotta adds. "At Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, 95 percent of all elective surgeries are performed transfusion-free. We're redefining the standard of care, and it's exciting."

Margiotta, her husband, and their two children and two miniature dachshunds live locally.

"I have lived in Bergen County for almost 20 years," she says. "My kids goto school here, our church is here, this is my home. I see my coworkers throughout the community, and that's nice. I really enjoy that."
