Nanci Kushner knows what she likes and what pieces work for her. "If I see something I like, I buy it," she says. "I'm not one to hem and haw over it."
As the owner of NPK, an exclusive, referral-only Pilates business, she sticks to Lululemon ensembles during the day.
"I am very into fitness and teach sessions in the morning," she says.
When it comes to date night with her husband, David, her go-to is always jeans and heels.
"I either wear 7 For All Mankind or J Brand jeans in white, black or blue," Kushner says. "I just like jeans."
Not one to wear a top and skirt, Kushner opts for dresses when she has a charity event or party to attend.
"I prefer to wear dresses instead of shirts with skirts because I think dresses elongate your body, whereas the latter chop you up," she says. "I try to wear timeless dresses and I won't wear a high-neck or boat-neck ever. I prefer scoop neck and V-necks.
"I am classic with a splash of trendy, 100 percent," she says.
Kushner opts for a combination of a white button-down shirt with jeans and then infuses something on the trendier side, such as an up-to-the minute Valentino studded clutch and a great pair of heels.
"I like a little sparkle to jazz up an outfit," she says.
She loves different shades of pink and ties the punchy color into her wardrobe through bright scarves and fun pieces of jewelry, and always in her shoes and handbags.
"I don't wear printed tops that often," she says. "To me, they are one and done."
With classic pieces such as jeans, she knows they can be worn over again and no one would know better, especially with a switch-up of accessories to create a brand new look.
Topping off her favorite must-haves are Saint Laurent's "Tribute" sandals in black, pink and silver, because they are easily worn with trousers and cocktail dresses alike and are comfortable.
"If it isn't comfortable, I won't wear it, so I won't buy it," she says. "They are my go-to shoes. That's why I have them in a few colors."
David also knows exactly what she likes and where to go when in search of the perfect present.
"Chanel bags are always classic and easy for him to buy," she says. "They are a no-brainer."
The Kushners are big supporters of many local charities.
"We know how important it is to give back to the community," she says.
They spend a lot of time at Alpine Country Club, where David is the president.
"We met at Syracuse University and have been friends for 30 years, married for 20," Kushner says. They have lived in Cresskill for 15 years with their three children, Briana, 18, Luke, 17, and Jagger, 14, and their golden retriever, Molson.
