From the moment clients walk into Ridgewood's Moxie Salon, they can feel the high energy from sisters and business partners Jenn and Jamie Dunn, the Moxie twins.

The hip salon would make the perfect setting for a reality show. And no wonder. The twins themselves are part of the cast of VH1's Why Am I Still Single?

The dynamic style duo, who are known for their "turbo makeovers," are ambitious and driven. Since its March opening, the salon has been booked solid with a steady stream of eager clients, happily waiting their turn for a personal "big reveal."

"What was supposed to be a simple retouching of her mousey golden locks turned into a glamorous transformation," a beaming Jenn says about one of her recent clients. "We are the What Not to Wear of hair."

The twins discovered their passion for hair and beauty at a young age and instantly knew they couldn't go a day without doing what they loved most. While attending Paramus Catholic High School, both Jenn and Jamie realized that in order to pursue their dream they would have to commit to 12-hour school days.

"All it would take was a look at someone, and in our minds we had countless ideas for how to bring out their beauty," Jamie says. "It might be a change in hair color or the proper application of makeup, but we could always see it."

While the rest of the girls in their senior class were dreaming up prom looks, the twins were attending high school by day and completing cosmetology studies by night at Parisian Beauty Academy.

After years of training and working on clientele in their home, it was time for the twins to branch out. At 23, they opened in their first salon in Montclair. The salon was a big success, yet the Saddle Brook natives felt as though a piece of them was missing and they needed to return to a place near their hometown.

"We love everything about Bergen County, so it was a natural to open a salon here," Jamie says. "Ridgewood is not only an upbeat and beautiful environment but symbolic of the changes that we create. We knew in an instant that this was the place to be, and we will continue to bring our spunky and hip ways to brighten the streets of this village."

Although as of press time the twins hadn't heard final word on a second season of Why Am I Still Single?, they feel as though they have no need to worry. Talks of pitching their own reality show are in the works and seem extremely likely.

"There is not one day that goes by that someone doesn't enter the salon and suggest that we get our own reality show," Jenn says.

With appointment books filled and clientele coming in from all parts of the state, the two have their hands full. As for the challenge of building a salon business in Ridgewood, the twins are undaunted by the stiff competition that exists downtown.

"The village is filled with many renowned hair salons, but nothing compares to the hospitality at Moxie Salon," Jenn says. "At Moxie, there is a specialized stylist for every person that comes through the door, whether it is the lawyer that has a brief due in two hours and needs a quick blowout, or the girl next door with the tightest curls. We've got you covered."

Jenn and Jamie have compiled a quirky and competent staff to help fulfill the breadth of services offered at Moxie, including the $25 blowouts and exquisite extensions.

"At Moxie, you will not only look, but most importantly feel, like a million bucks," Jenn says.

"You feel like Cinderella walking in," Michele Mc Naughton, a loyal client, says. "And once the twins are done, you are ready for the ball."

Whether clients enter through the VIP door located at the rear of the salon or are greeted by the receptionist, they cannot help but feel at home.
