This month, we take a look at a few great outdoor summer activities for the fun-seeking family.

Summer wouldn't be complete without a fun family fair to attend. State Fair Meadowlands will be taking place June 22 through July 8 at the Meadowlands Fairground, next to the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. With more than 150 rides and attractions, this year's fair will have something for everyone – live concerts, shopping, games, rides and a few daredevils, and not to mention, funnel cakes, corn dogs, cotton candy, ice cream... and even the doughnut burger. For more information, prices and hours, visit njfair.com.

Before the sweltering heat of summer really sets in, June is the perfect time for beginners and experts alike to hit the road. Bergen offers no fewer than nine races this month, ranging from a kid-friendly 2K walk to 10Ks and triathlons. Highlights include the American Cancer Society George Washington Bridge Challenge on June 10 in Fort Lee, a 10K and 5K across the bridge, and the Wyckoff-Franklin Lakes Triathlon on June 16 at Indian Trail Club. Or bring your pooch to the Tenafly 5K Run and Dog Walk on June 3. You can find information on those and other runs at runningintheusa.com/race.

All this outdoor fun is exhausting, thirsty work, isn't it? Well, how about a relaxing stroll with a glass of wine? Visit the Jersey Hills Wine Festival on June 9 and 10 at Ramapo College in Mahwah. The Garden State Wine Growers Association hosts a handful of wine festivals each year, and with food, vendors, crafts and a kids' area, they're always a blast. You're welcome to bring a picnic basket, and everyone interested in the wine receives a glass and a wristband to sample any and every wine available. And admission is free for anyone who just wants to hang out and enjoy the day!

Baseball fans can enjoy the local flavor of America's pastime by catching a Hackensack Troasts game at Foschini Park in Hackensack.
