American Diabetes Association Father's Day Council held its first New Jersey "Father of the Year" Awards Reception this past Wednesday at The Newark Club in Newark.
This year's honorees were Calvin Schmidt (President, Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc.), Dr. Sukumar Nagendran (Vice President Medical Affairs, Quest Diagnostics), Dr. Aman Bhatti (Head of Global Medical Affairs, Novartis) and Bill Hanson (President, NAI James E. Hanson).
The purpose of this award is to recognize men that have made family a priority, while balancing a demanding career and community involvement. Every year, 36 councils in cities throughout the United States conduct a nomination process to identify honorees who meet the criteria to be nominated as Father of the Year. By honoring men that are seen as leaders in the community, the Father’s Day Council generates attention to the event that furthers their goal of heightening awareness of the importance of fatherhood while benefiting the American Diabetes Association.
The event allowed guests the opportunity to celebrate fatherhood and support the work of the American Diabetes Association, as well as network and connect with other local business leaders.
