CarePlus Foundation held its 16th annual Courage Awards gala yesterday at The Venetian in Garfield, featuring cocktail hour, dinner, live and silent auctions, raffles and more.

The event honored the Paramus Stigma Free Zone Task Force, Sister Mary Foley and her therapy dog Luke, and Stephen Gavosto. The Foundation will presented the inaugural Compassionate Care Award to Silvia Henrique, a CarePlus staff member who represents the best in the field of mental health care.

"Mental illness is just like any illness, but unlike others there is stigma associated with it," said Maureen Moriarty, Chairperson of the Care Plus Courage Awards Gala. "The Courage Awards provides an opportunity to raise the necessary funding to continue to educate the community about mental health."
