The Hillsdale & Westwood Flood Solution Group held its innaugural Meeting and Dinner Dance at the Bear's Nest Clubhouse in Park Ridge. Attendees enjoyed a fun night of dancing while staying updated on the organization's progress.
The Flood Solution Group is a not-for-profit corporation formed in 2011 for the purpose of studying regulatory issues and data in order to propose possible remedies to prevent the repetitive flooding events that devastate local communities. The Group has been influential in convincing local governments that they are not powerless to affect the conduct of Public Utilities in operating their reservoirs and dams in waterways coursing through local neighborhoods. The Woodcliff Lake dam renovation scheduled to start last March has been put on hold by hearings before the NJ Board of Public Utilities where the H&WFSG is advocating for the rights of local authorities to examine and evaluate whether the plans will further damage local properties or can be revised to alleviate flooding.
