Women United in Philanthropy (WUIP) held its 8th annual Fall Gathering at Stony Hill Inn in Hackensack last night. The event was highlighted by guest speaker Eve Ensler.

Eve Ensler, the Tony Award winning Playwright, performer, activist, and philanthropist is best known for writing "The Vagina Monologues" which was inspired by intimate conversations with friends. The play recounts tender, funny, gripping and horrifying stories she gathered from hundreds of women about their bodies, and their sexual experiences. Since its first staging in 1996, it has been translated into more than 45 languages, performed in more than 120 countries and re-created as an HBO film.

WUIP is one of the largest women’s philanthropic efforts in the state. They are dedicated to promoting the economic power of women to effect change in each other’s lives. Membership in the circle is extended to women who contribute $1000 annually to the collective fund and vote each year to award a large grant to a local program helping women.
