THE ANSWER: The finale of 1978's "Superman: The Movie" revolved around villain Lex Luthor, played by Gene Hackman, and his diabolical plan to launch two 500-megaton bombs, one toward California, and the other at Hackensack, New Jersey. It was the job of Superman (Christopher Reeve) to intercept both missiles headed for opposite coasts.
